What supports are out there for carers and how can we, as individuals and a community, help care for carers?

Say what you will about social media, one clear benefit is the way it can connect us with peers from all over the world, elevate the voices and thoughts of people we might not come across, and – of course – serve as a source of alternative ideas for how to do life.

Whether you’ve been personally affected or you’ve seen it on the news, floods, fires and cyclones have been a common occurrence for many Australians in recent years. If you live in an area where cyclones can hit, or a flood or bushfire zone, you need to be prepared.

Are you a university student with disability in your final or second-to-last year of study? Yes? Then you could complete a paid internship as part of the Australian Government’s Stepping Into program.

Data released last month by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) confirmed Australia’s unemployment rate had fallen to 3.5 per cent – the lowest rate recorded since August 1974. However, while high job availability can be good news for individuals, it is causing widespread problems for employers and the economy – leading to workforce shortages and stagnated growth.

Not unlike the rental vacancy rate, Australia’s unemployment rate has fallen to just 3.5 per cent. Meanwhile, there are more than 100,000 Australians with disability actively looking for work. That means employers need workers and people with disability make great employees.
